Ambrose Alli University, (AAU) Ekpoma Admission into Foundation Programme for 2011/2012

ADMISSION INTO FOUNDATION PROGRAMMES FOR 2011/2012 SESSION

The Directorate of Foundation Programmes runs a two semester programme aimed at preparing candidates who could not gain admission into the University through the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), but possess the minimum entry requirements, for admission into 100 Level in their prospective courses.

The available degree options currently offered through the programme and with the entry requirements are as stated below:

1. FOUNDATION PROGRAMME IN AGRICULTURE:
The Foundation Programme in Agriculture prepares candidates for entry into any of the following degree options: Agricultural Economics, Animal Science, Crop Science and Soil Science.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must possess at least five (5) credit passes in WASC/GCE O’ Level/SSCE/NECO or NABTEB in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Agricultural Science or Biology at not more than two sittings. A pass in Physics is acceptable for candidates with credit in Chemistry.

2. FOUNDATION PROGRAMME IN NATURAL SCIENCES
The Foundation programme in the Sciences prepares candidates for entry into any of the following degree options: Biochemistry, Botany, Computer Science, Chemistry, Geo-Physics, Industrial Chemistry, Mathematics, Microbiology, Physics, Statistics and Zoology.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must possess at least five (5) credits in SSCE/WASC/GCE 0’ Level/NECO/NABTEB examination including a credit in English Language and Mathematics at not more than two (2) sittings provided that at least three (3) of the credits are in relevant Science subjects. Credit pass in Physics may not be mandatory for Departments of Botany, Zoology and Statistics.

3. FOUNDATION PROGRAMME IN BASIC MEDICAL SCIENCES
This Programme prepares candidates for entry into the following degree options: B.Sc: Physiology and Medical Laboratory Science

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Same as for Natural Sciences in (2) above.

4. FOUNDATION PROGRAMME IN CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION
The Foundation Programme in Curriculum and Instruction prepares candidates for entry into any of the following degree options: Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Candidates must possess at least five credits at SSCE/NECO/GCE/NABTEB or its equivalent at not more than two (2) sittings. Requirements vary with subject areas as shown below:

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
i. Biology Education: Candidates must possess credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and Biology in addition to two other subjects.
ii. Chemistry Education: Candidates must possess credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and Chemistry in addition to two other subject subjects.
iii. Mathematics Education: Candidates must possess credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, any other Science subject in addition to two other subjects.
iv. Physics Education: Candidates must possess credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and Physics in addition to two other subjects.

5. FOUNDATION PROGRAMME IN ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES
The Foundation Programme in Environmental Studies prepares candidates for entry into any of the following degree options: Building, Fine and Applied Arts.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
i. BUILDING: Candidates must possess at least, five credit passes in the WASC/GCE O’ Level/SSCE/NECO or NABTEB in Mathematics, English Language, Physics and any other two (2) subjects from Geography, Economics, Arts, Technical Drawing, Biology and Agricultural Science.

ii. FINE AND APPLIED ARTS: Candidates must possess at least five (5) credit passes in SSCE/WASC/GCE O’ Level/NECO or NABTEB including English Language. A credit or pass in Fine and Applied Arts is an additional advantage. Candidates having TCII with at least a merit grade in fine and Applied Arts may also apply.

6. FOUNDATION PROGRAMME IN GEOGRAPHY AND REGIONAL PLANNING (SOCIAL SCIENCES)
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must possess at least five credits passes in the WASC/GCE O’ Level/SSCE/NECO/ or NABTEB in English Language, Geography, Mathematics and any other two (2) subjects.

7. FOUNDATION PROGRAMME IN ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY
The Foundation Programme in Engineering and Technology prepares candidates for entry into any of the following degree options:
i. Civil Engineering
ii. Electrical/Electronics Engineering
iii. Materials and Production Engineering
iv. Mechanical Engineering.
